Hey, I love the animation and style you opt for - I love Ghibli too! I have a few questions:
I love the hanging animated dangly masks and animated objects. How do you animate it so convincingly that it is swaying in the wind?
I like the typing inputs, I have never seen it often. How did you implement the code to input player typing letters into the game and trigger it to be right or wrong spelling? Was there a tutorial on it?
The mouse and the fly look exactly like a shot from Spirited Away. Did you trace that? Or do some of the Ghibli IP characters have to be referenced because there is no exact image in the perspective you want it to be?
Thanks, I love the aesthetic and calmness of the game. It would be great for educational purposes and using an attractive popular Ghibli theme would make kids and adults alike enjoy the process of practicing typing more. :D
- The wind animations took awhile to figure out, so I used youtube animation tutorials for unity! Time the object's movement speed differently to simulate their movements in the wind (Eg. heavier objects moves slower.)
- Unfortunately no tutorial for this;; there are some basic ones on youtube but not exactly what I was looking for, so I consulted people who made similar games before. If you'd like to try making a typing game, my takeaway is that the code is not complicated! Make three different word banks according to EASY/MEDIUM/HARD , and trigger them when the player reaches a specific score. Just make sure that the words you set are typed correctly and (surprise) with no spacing, so it does not matter if the player keys the space or not~
- Regarding the Ghibli references, it is directly from reference images (I did not want to use images from online, and it was self motivation for me to draw too~) The game definitely falls under pure fan art :laugh
